Updates: What are they up to now?

PART 1: AKAYLA

*Akayla & Corina both play in the ISC youth symphony. They are the 2 youngest members. They have learned a lot from the experience, and Dave and I are both very impressed with the orchestra and the conductor. They had a concert recently, and it was fun watching them play in a real orchestra. She also still takes violin lessons at the university.

*She doesn't have much time on weekdays, but on the weekends she loves to talk on the phone, chat on facebook & bebo, hang out at the mall or anywhere with her friends - girls & guys (especially one certain guy!).

*Akayla enjoys school mostly because she wants to be with her friends. She's struggled with her grades in a couple of her classes because she talks too much. She does her homework faithfully, and is working hard on bringing her grades up. She does very well in math though and is in the advanced algebra class.

*Akayla's life is a soap opera. She always has several guys who like her, and it has even caused fist fights between 2 best friends. We have a rule that she has to talk to 2 guys in between talking to "the" guy, and that is never a problem for her! She won't date before she's 16, but that doesn't stop her from flirting and driving the guys CRAZY!!!

*She can't wait to be in high school next year, but she's a little nervous that her dad will embarrass her if she's in his seminary class!

*Akayla has been taking piano lessons from a concert pianist that is absolutely incredible! Because of our financial problems this year the $45 lessons ($180 per month) were really difficult to pay for. We decided to take a break until the fall - hoping things would get better. I called the teacher who got really upset and said she couldn't quit. She is too talented and is doing too well. He called around and found a sponsor to pay for her lessons. WOW! Such a blessing for a talented young lady!

*She's always listening to music - especially David Archuleta and the Twilight CD right now (Thanks Carissa!!!).

*Akayla is counting down the days (86) until she can go to the stake dances (14 years old).

*She still has a bubbly, fun, kind, happy personality. She's always willing to help her younger sisters with homework, diaper changes, reading books, etc. She's a lot of fun to be with and I love being her mom/friend!

*Akayla teaches violin lessons so she can pay for clogging. Busy girl!

*She is the president in the Beehive presidency and she enjoys YW - especially since Corina came in!

I still make the rules!

busy doing good things

Stake dances? They still have those? That's cute that she's excited to go to those. I can't believe she teaches violin lessons. That is impressive. Yay for her!

It always makes me smile to read and hear about your sweet and incredibly talented family. You are such a great mom and your children are so amazing.
It's hard to imagine either of these two girls growing up so fast. I remember when they were just little.

All I can say is that I am soooo sorry! You are in trouble having such beautiful girls and one so flirtatious! I am still laughing about the fist fight thing!
