Mommy Mondays

Dave and I have always done time-outs with our kids.

Each child has time alone with each parent every other month.

Usually we go somewhere fun (cheap) and get a treat.
We spend lots of time talking and just enjoy time alone.

This Summer I decided to do things a little differently....

every Monday I have taken 2 kids out together for a time-out.
It's been a little different, but we've been able to do things we wouldn't do with just 2 of us, and it's been really fun too.

Last Monday was even crazier.....
it was me and my 4 youngest (not including Lea) spending the day together because the girls - Adri, Anna, Mars & Elli - had all decided that they wanted to have a cooking day and prepare for a BIG tea party that they would invite the whole family to.

They chose the recipes out of our American Girls cookbooks.

Almond tarts from Felicity's cookbook, and jelly biscuits from Samantha's.

We also made cucumber sandwiches and a huge pot of pero (a barley drink similar to coffee but without all the harmful chemicals).

It took several hours to make the food and we really made a mess of the kitchen!

We had barely gotten things finished and cleaned up when daddy got home from work - so, we decided our tea party would have to be dinner.

We quickly whipped up a pot of potato cheese soup and then everyone got dressed up.

Even dad and Tanner joined in.

The older kids were a little silly, but that's what made it fun.

Everything was delicious!

Our Mommy Monday was a success!

Next week will be the 3 older kids and I have some fun ideas up my sleeve!

good things:
a messy kitchen because it's a sign that we enjoyed ourselves

when my kids clean up without being asked

putting my feet up at the end of the day

How fun! At first when you mentioned time-outs I thought this was going to be a post all about discipline:) My dad loves pero but the smell of it is sickening to me!
