2 types....

I'm the first type.

I am a very spontaneous person who is easily distracted.

I love to have a good time and I don't have a problem when plans change - I just quickly change with them and still have a good time!

I tend to get a lot done and I work really hard, but I also tend to work hard only on things I want to do. I procrastinate projects that I really don't want to spend my time doing or I just don't do them. It's a really good thing I enjoy cleaning and organizing or ....... *shudder*

School was hard for me not because I wasn't smart but because I didn't want to do what they told me to do. I like to choose my own books and learn what I want to know.....but math? Why in the world would I want to do math?!!

My husband is the other type.

He has a very difficult time with any changes to his plans. One of our very first arguments when we were first married involved me wanting to make a quick detour to grab the mail on our way out of our trailer court but because it wasn't in our plans Dave did not want to do it!

He plans things well ahead of time and sticks with his lists.

Where I make hasty decisions and purchases.....he will go over and over every detail of any decision he has to make. (I kind of hate shopping with him. It can take him hours to purchase a pair of shoes. But I have to admit....his carefulness really pays off in the long run.)

He will start right away on projects that need to be done and sometimes things take a long time because he is extremely careful. But they are always done well - even the ones he really doesn't want to do.

I'm sure people wonder how we get along, but it really isn't a problem at all. We have our own personalities but we adore each other and love the differences as well as similarities we share. In many ways we have balanced each other out and helped each other become better.

Lately though I wish some of his self control would rub off on me a little more. Don't get me wrong....I'm happy with who I am and all but one of the things I hate to do more than anything in this world is excercise!! After every baby I have to get back into an excercise schedule to lose the 50 pounds I gained. It always takes me about a year to lose the weight and I have done it with every baby...........until now.

I find myself 40 or so pounds over what I should be and I can't seem to find a stupid excercise program I want to follow. I have no problem with healthy eating. We eat very well: whole grains, lowfat proteins, lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, and very little meat. I feel great but my body is completely out of shape.

So I am wondering if anyone out there has found the best, most fun and enjoyable excercise program out there? Please share! If you happen to be one of those people that can eat whatever you want and never excercise but still stay a size 2.........I still love you!

I totally enjoyed running with my good friend in the mornings until she moved. I totally enjoyed meeting friends at the church across the street and doing circuits and running together. But I didn't enjoy going to the gym by myself and I don't enjoy aerobics by myself. Apparently I'm a social excerciser!! Anybody want to excercise with me?!!

good things:
tax returns
spring break coming soon
a fun busy weekend

This seriously is what I've found lately that has worked for me.

And--it even has gotten me working out in the morning--and I usually hate that.

I turn on the timer for the amount of time I'm working out (which I do 20 minutes--cause I have a 10 minute walk to and from my office--so I count that too). Then--with the TV on whatever I want to watch--I walk and run around the house. And I HATE running...so the fact that I'll actually run, is an achievement. I usually like to walk outside--but in tundra land where I live currently--working out outside in the winter is FAR too cold and depressing. I LOVE it cause with the timer--I know exactly how long I have to go--if I get bored (which I haven't yet) I know it's only 20 minutes, and I seem to be getting a reasonably good workout (at least the scale has been a little happier). Of course, it's not perfect--but as I'm NOT a social exerciser, it works for me.

Good luck!

I have had some success working out on my own, but I too am about 25 lbs heavier than I was pre-baby. I'm nursing (technically pumping), and not eating more than 1600 calories a day. You'd think the weight would come off like they all say, right?

Riiiiiiight.

But I think you are on the right track. You need a friend to go walking/jogging with. Just having 1 other person to answer to makes all the difference. I told my walking/jogging partner NOT to call me and tell me that she's not going with me, but just don't answer her door if she can't go. It got me up and going so I ended up going anyway.

And go the same time every day. Challenge yourselves - push a little harder every week. Get a heart rate monitor and keep it between 140-160 (not more!) for 30-60 minutes.

Another thing is I got a "LoseIt" tracker app for my iPhone. It's easy to input the food you eat and easier to resist that second slice of cake when you know you have to account for it. :)

If I were close, I'd go with you!

I counted calories (but not to an ocd extent) and exercised three - four days a week...I varied my exercise by what I was in the mood for. I have dance videos that I love, I used the Wii Fit (that is surprisingly and good work out). I would go walking or I would work out on the eliptical (we gave the eliptical away though) so after this baby I won't be using that but rather just walking and the Wii Fit and Dance videos...eating right was the hardest thing for me...and still is...LOL

I have always had to work out to stay in shape and to not gain weigh. I try to do it all or Ill get bored. The one I have loved for the past year is the Brazilian Butt lift. I love it!! I still run, swim and bike, but I have found that the BBL has help me loose more inches than anything else. My sister has also done it after her babies and it pounds come right off....good luck!

When I get time to exercise...we like to do Wii fit together as a family. The other thing I love doing is yoga and pilates. I rarely get a chance to do them though. I am not much of a gym person. I prefer to work out at home. So, I have about two dozen "instant queue" dance and aerobic shows on the wii that I like to do. It's fun and I really enjoy it. My problem is, finding the TIME!

I am totally a social exerciser. Anything I have to do alone doesn't really last for long and I have a hard time pushing myself beyond the minimum when noone is watching me:(. I obviously don't have the discipline that my husband does. I flopped the last wellness challenge but have recommitted this month so I'd love to exercise (and talk) with you - walking, running (ugh!) or anything your up for.

Would love to run with you if we lived a little closer.

I would love to run with you again!!! That was really fun. Except the time we tried to run on the ice and I brought you home with that bloody knee. I still feel bad about that. I still run Ang, and that is what keeps me sane and helps after the babies. One of the fun things I have found is excercising with my daughters. It's a great time to talk and they LOVE to go with me. (Most of the time with thier little legs its more talking than a real work out for me... but its fun). Who knows, maybe your girls could help you get motivated AND get more binding time as well.
