None of them will ever be famous or a prophet or anything like that.
But they each have their own special gifts.
I think that's my favorite part about being a mom - trying to discover each child's special mission in life.
A mom's job is full of sacrificing..... we sacrifice our body, time, money, sanity, and even our own identity for a time.
But we do it willingly.
My children are part of me.
When my children hurt I feel it in my womb.
When they have success I feel their joy deep within me.
Being a mom is the best job there is!
I don't mind that it's often a thankless job either - I chose this life and it's exactly what I've always wanted.
I am thanked when my babies reach up to me, when my son teases me & says I'm the coolest, when my teenage daughter paints my toenails, when another daughter can't wait to tell me about her fun day, when I get a text that says "I love you!", when my daughter hugs me & says that was the best dinner ever, when my baby snuggles up and falls asleep on me, when my kids surprise me by cleaning the kitchen, when my oldest daughter stays up late to talk about her hopes & fears, and when my children do well - in school, or in whatever they do.
We found out Akayla made All-American at Nationals and Mariah made Junior All-American!
I'm telling you - I was more excited than they were!!!
So this video pretty much sums up my feelings about being a mom........ because we sacrifice for our kids (even though they will most likely never be Olympians), and their successes are ours also!
I got to spend Mother's Day with my own mom.....the first time in at least 15 years.
I got up early to make her a delicious breakfast in bed.
We brought it to her on a pretty tray.
I sat on her bed while she ate and we talked.
I remember jumping into bed with my mom early on Saturday mornings.
My mom was my first friend, and she was my only friend during the turbulent middle school years.
She cried with me, she laughed with me......and she still does.
My kids that came with me on our little trip eventually woke up and brought me some food on a high chair tray (such a glamorous life I live!).
Life is good. I am blessed.
