Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was pretty perfect around here.

Some of our favorite traditions didn't happen, and some of our favorite people weren't here, but other than that it was a magical day.

We started a new tradition this year and made Dave's Sicilian grandmother's amazing pasta sauce and homemade meatballs, Italian sausage, homemade breadsticks, and salad.  It was the best Christmas Eve meal we've ever eaten - and well worth the (all-day) effort it took to prepare it!

I love that we can still try new things and that Christmas can still be a magical time after 20 years!

and some of our tried and true traditions:

*eating our Christmas meal by candlelight

*Christmas jammies with a new Christmas book,

*a "polar express" ride around town (in Bertha - our suburban) to look at the lights with a mug of hot chocolate

*reading the Christmas story together

*exchanging sibling gifts

good things:
Egg Nog one night a year
clinking goblets
Christmas dreams
